Marshall was also known as “Doc” Taylor and The Red Fox.
He was born in 1836 in Scott Co. VA, the eldest son of William P. TAYLOR and Polly STALLARD
Marshall married Nancy A. BOOTH, 23 Nov. 1854.
Marshall was tried, convicted and sentenced to death for murder in Wise Co. Va 1897, but there is speculation whether or not he died on the gallows or was secreted away by his friends. There are many stories surrounding his life and adventures.

Rebecca TAYLOR was the daughter of William P. TAYLOR and Polly STALLARD and the sister of Marshall Benton TAYLOR. She was born in 1840. She married James Logan DAVIDSON in Scott Co. VA in 1857. They had eight children; Floyd, William Harrison, Delia, Nancy Jane, Laura, Edith, Desha and Logan Monroe DAVIDSON.
