Orpha Ann Nash was the wife of John Taylor, and the mother of Robert Lee Taylor.
Orpha was born about 1861, the daughter of William Nash and Virginia (Ramsey, see editor’s note below photo) Stallard. She married John Taylor on 17 Apr 1879 in Scott county, Virginia. Orpha died in 1906 and is buried in the Fincastle Church Cemetery in Dungannon. View her and husband John’s headstone on Find-a-Grave.
Editor’s note: According to the source Virginia, U. S., Select Marriages, 1785-1940, her parents were William Nash and Virginia. Virginia is listed on the 1860 census with husband William Nash and several children with the surname Stallard. The 1860 census doesn’t give relationships, but it leads me to believe that William Nash was her second husband and the children later took his surname.
Several records for her children list her as Virginia Ramsey.
I am not yet sure if Orpha is the daughter of William Nash, or an unknown Stallard. I will update this post as I find more information.

My son has found some indication that Virgina Ann Ramsey Nash attended the Stollard Indian school . Her first husband was William Stollard . He passed away about a year after their marriage. They had one son also named William. Nash was her second husband and was 20 + years her senior . There is so much history to tell and I am notnanvery good typist. As I told one of our other cousins , mom has a lot of old pictures and portraits and a wealth of information. I would be glad to share as bestbi can. My email fvf@windstream.net
I remember my great aunt Mary. My grandmother was her sister Virginia Elizabeth Taylor Beard born in 1882. Every one called her Jenny. I was there several times when Aunt Mary visited her. I also had an aunt Mary that was named after her.
My great-grandmother was Orpha Ann Nash Taylor and I would really appreciate and would love to know anything about Virginia and all her children. Any photos? My grandfather was Fleetwood W. Taylor, a coal miner. I think that Mary visited him sometimes. Any story would be cherished by me. Thank you, Debra

I used to spend my Sundays as a child listening to Aunt Jenny talk about the old days. She lived with my Grand Mother ( Mary Taylor Beard ). They married brothers. Jenny married Barn Beard and my grandmother married Orbin Beard. My mother is a wealth of information on the family as is our cousin Larry Beard. My email is fvf@windstream.net.
Just a heads up . I sent an email to you today. It probably went to your Junk folder. I attached a picture of my Grandmother, Jenny Beard.
Mom has a portrait of Orpha, John my grandmother Mary one of Orphans sisters and her son hanging on the wall in her home as well as a portrait of Virgina and William Nash. The next time I visit I will try to remember to get photos of them for you. My mother is Helen Virgina Beard Francis .
Floyd, hi, boy would I love a photo of Virginia and William Nash. Her story is so interesting. Orpha and John Taylor are my Grandads parents. All those pictures are a treasure, as we do not have any photos, only one of Orpha. There are 6 first cousins of mine and my brother. We are all so curious and would greatly appreciate any copies of these folks.
William Nash was the father of Wicklief Hendricks Nash & Louisa Jane Nash Ramsey (Louisa married Virginia’s brother.). William was my great-great grandfather. I would be interested in getting photos of William & Virginia Nash.
(I do the genealogy for Wicklief Nash’s family.)
