These are my husband’s ancestors: Nancy married Anderson Hammonds – if Nancy is buried here, wonder if Anderson is here too?

      Hi Jane,

It is possible, also, that the children are not buried there. The children’s names are on the back of this stone, they may have been listed there just as a memorial. I really don’t know.

Thomas Williams and Sally Buckner are my aunt and uncle. Any further information on this family and their children would be appreciated.

      Judy:

Two things! I’m a Williams and our Sherrod Williams was on a Church Record in Scott Co., VA in 1808 so he is possibly the father of Thomas??? This, however, has not been proven.

The other thing is that I have a friend named Marion Estep Brew from Elizabethon, TN. Do you know anything about your Esteps – probably your husband’s family??

Someone told me that Thomas Williams wife was a Sarah Gilliam. Does anyone know for sure the name of his wife? Was he married twice?

Sarah “Sally” Gilliam’s parents are Elizabeth Gilliam and Patrick “Mack” Buckner. I’ve not found any official marriage records on Elizabeth and Patrick; so they were probably known as consorts “a term for common law marriage”. If anyone ever finds a marriage record for Elizabeth and Patrick I would love to know the link or have a photo image. Sarah and Thomas are my 4th great grandparents. Thanks. Tammy

Minerva was first married to William Johnson, Jr. who died in a prison camp in IL during the Civil War. She must have married Robert Penley after her husband died. Her son with William Johnson is my great grandfather, Henry Thomas Johnson.
