This photo is very large, I left it that way so the faces would be clearer. I believe the the man in the center with the white beard may be Thomas DINGUS, based not only on his appearance, but also the tilt of his head and the slope of his shoulders. Please use the comment link below and let us know what you think. Thanks.

Dave writes;

Pat, I have no idea of the people in this photo, it was in with some of my PETERS and WILLIAMS pictures that came from the Scott Co. things that I have. I’m in hopes that someone might identify some of these people.

    Those that I have checked with can’t say anything conclusive, but we all seem to agree that there is a definite and plausible likeness. If anyone can identify any of the other members of the group, we might come closer to solving it.

    The house in the picture is gorgeous. This is probably a family group portrait and could have been sent to Scott Co., VA or not necessarily taken in Scott Co., VA.

    I’m a Williams and have my family documented back to 1725 with my earliest known ancestor, Ambrose Williams b. 1725. He had a son Robert b. 1770 who had a son Robert b. 1806 and the man in the dark suit sitting next to the elderly man with the white beard looks just like my Robert b. 1770. Robert b. 1770 died 1846 so if the house is of the Victorian era, this cannot be him. His son Robert b. 1806 died 1881 – not likely him either. However, Robert (born 1806) had a son Robert who became a doctor in MO. If he looked just like his grandfather, this could possibly be him?? I do not, however, recognize the man in the white beard. Very nice picture.

    It is interesting that the man in the suit looks exactly like my Robert! I can’t be 100 positive but it’s amazing they look so much alike.

      Hi Clydene, I look very much like my grandmother, especially as I grow older 😉

      Click on the link for Thomas Dingus in the paragraph under the photo and see if you don’t think the man with the white beard may be the same man.

      And it really is a wonderful house, isn’t it.

    this might be Thomas Dingus brother and the family he was living with.
    Alexander Dingus was his name.

    The man sitting in the very front row with a suit on the end looks just like my 2nd grandfather. Nelson Clinton McDonald Peters
