robertjeffersontate.jpg

This photo was taken about 1912 in Scott County. Robert Jefferson TATE (1859-1932) and Amanda C. RHODES TATE (1864-1927) lived in a house on the south bank of the Clinch River, a mile downstream from the Speers Ferry bridge. Seated are my ggrandparents Robert Jefferson TATE and his wife Amanda C. RHODES. Left to right are their children; Meriba Susan (Cricket), Sarah Francis, Ora, John B., Mary Elizabeth (my grandmother), William Milborn, Lou Dema, Robert F. and James Gully TATE. ~Genell

Interesting that your ancestor has the same last name as I. Wonder if my family is also linked to this photograph. I am from Charleston West Virginia, and can trace my family back to my great great grandparents (though I can’t recall there names at the moment), It would be interesting if I could submit there names to you and see if the families are linked. Please respond.

Hi Genell, I have a picture that has some of the same people in it and the date on the back was May 1913…It says William McCullough and family. I don’t know if this refers to the people in the family or perhaps was being sent to William and family. The girl on the far right that the boy next to her are in my picture.. I think they may have been made at the same time (perhaps by a traveling photographer) I would love to hear from you. Cindy

I have seen a copy of this picture before.. 🙂 My grandfather on this picture is William Milburn, I can see where the difference in spelling can be easily confused. The picture seems to have been taken by the old home place. The family grave yard is still there.

so happy to see a picture of my ancesters. James Gully was my great great grandfather. Is the William Milborn in the picture his son or brother? William Milborn (James Gully’s son ) was my great grandfather, then William Cidney then my dad Ora Sidney. Would love to hear from anyone with family history they would love to share. My dad moved our family to Ohio in the early 50’s and didn’t know alot of the family. Thank you, Carol Tate Hopkins.

I am trying to locate a picture of Laura Dorton Tate. She was married to James Gulley Tate, May 2, 1918. My ex mother-in-law has been trying to find a picture of her mother. She was only 3 when her mother passed away and has no memory of her. I would love to be able to find a photo for her.
