Nancy’s Shoebox

September 21, 2006 by Patty 4 Comments

Nancy Jenkins sent in some photos that she found in her Granny Davidson’s trunk, but unfortunately they were not labeled. Click on the links below and look at these faces then look in your own shoebox. Do you recognize anyone here? If so, please use comment link under that photo.

Nancy’s Granny Davidson was born Nancy Elizabeth HALE in Scott Co.
on 7 Jun 1862. Her parents were Barbara Jane ADAMS, and
James C. HALE, who lived in Duffield.

Nancy Elizabeth HALE married Logan Monroe DAVIDSON on 29 Jul 1882.
Logan was the son of James DAVIDSON and Rebecca TAYLOR. Their children were Elizabeth Myrtle DAVIDSON who married Charles R. SCOTT, Benjamin Harrison DAVIDSON who married Lula ASHE, Henry Lee DAVIDSON who married Lonie Elizabeth MCGUIRE and Nancy Jane DAVIDSON who married Samuel Elias ISAAC.

There are family connections also to HALE, ADAMS, TAYLOR, JENKINS, RHOTEN, JOHNSON, STARNES and possibly FLANNERY.

Excited to have found this website. I’m related to the HALES/JOHNSON. My father’s father (Herbert Johnson born in Duffield, VA 1900 )…..was the son of Samantha Hale and her husband whom seems to be a mystery, Dr. John (Logan?)Johnson. Samantha Hales parents were James C. Hale and Barbara Jane Adams.

Her sister was Nancy Elizabeth Hale. I wished I could find more information about Samantha Hale and my Great Grandfather. If anyone has heard of them, or their other sons, Kelly and Byron and I believe sisters, Ollie Mae/Mae and Georgia Johnson whom lived in Johnson City/Church Hill, TN, PLEASE let me know!!! I would greatly appreciate it.

My great grandmother was Martha Washington Cox. She married John Harris and they lived in Ft. Blackmore. I would appreciate any information on either one of them as I am stuck on both.
