My father Edward Ralph Flanary, Sr., son of Clinton Melvin Flanary and Maude Elizabeth Harris Flanary, knew these ladies. They helped my father and his family after their mother passed away. This photo will mean a great deal to my father and I am going to present it to him this Father’s Day.
As a youngster my Mom (nee Begley) attended Greens chapel, as did I when we visited Stoney Creek. The missionaries visited our elementary and vacation bible schools and taught us biblical stories. I attended the bible camp they sponsored in the mid 1960’s at Bancroft Bible Camp near Kingsport, Tennessee. The lady with the white hat with a feather appears to be Ms Forrester. She always taught using story boards and always wore a hat. The lady at the right behind the boy appears to be Ms Emsinger, she always seemed in charge and was the song leader. I also recall Ms Barnes and Ms Huff, but do not see them here. I will ask my cousin or uncle. The missionaries lived in the Cumberland Mission, on land given by my uncle or his brother, 2-3 miles down Stoney creek from Greens Chapel.
I believe the lady to the right of Ms Forrester is Ms Huff (4th from Left).
Note: Emsinger may be spelled Insinger.
