Dear Linda, it’s 14 years later but I saw a reply you made on a Scott County, VA site regarding Robinettes. My family descends from a James “Grand Sir” Robinett in Maryland circa 1738 but then ultimately back to Allen Robinett. What I am curious about is our possible melungeon history and I saw that your email address refers to them.

All my life I have thought that there was something different about me, my paternal grandmother (who was both Robinett and Eller and married a Robinett cousin), and her brother. We plus my father, his sister, and especially his brother, have nearly black eyes, dark to black hair, and olive skin. Granted, that means nothing these days without DNA tests. We have not had those but I still deeply believe we are more than of European heritage.

You are the first Robinette-related person I have found on the internet to have indicated (?) melungeon heritage. I hope after all these years you somehow see this and reply or if anyone else wishes to, please do. Thank you.
