Gracie Weatherly was the daughter of William C. Weatherly and Laura Robinette, born about 1900 in Scott County, VA. She married Bige Bloomer, the son of Amos Bloomer & Lucy A. Bledsoe.
I found your website while I was looking for info on the Bloomer Cemetery supposedly located in Scott County, Virginia, where my son’s ggggrandfather, Nehemiah Bloomer and maybe his wife are reportedly buried. Also a daughter Keziah Payne is reportedly buried there. Thanks for listening.
The photo is of my grandmother, Grace Angeline Weatherly, daughter of William (Billy)Calvin Weatherly(son of Jesse J. Weatherly and Alpha Rebecca Smith) and Laura Angeline Robinett (daughter of Joel Robinett and Angeline Gilliam). My mother has the same photo. Grace married Bige Bloomer, their children were Lillie Ethel Bloomer Pierson Carter (my mother), Echol Bloomer (deceased), Beulah Bloomer Snowball, and Henry Bloomer. My mother married James Baxter Pierson son of James Wesley and Dora lee Lane Pierson. I have more information on the Weatherlys and Robinetts should anyone need them.
Eugene T Weatherly is a cousin to the Marrs family who lived in Scott and Washington Counties. My father, Robert L Marrs, and uncles, Joseph S Marrs and William Henry Marrs were policemen on the Bristol Police force in the 1920s. Eugene joined the Cincinnati Police force ultimately working his way up to Chief of Police. Any information on Eugene’s parents and maybe the family’s connection would be greatly appreciated. I have a huge amount of material on Eugene, photos and newspaper clippings I could share. I retired to England a few years but I still try to keep up on my genealogy.
I have probably contacted you earlier concerning Angeline Gilliam Robinette’s family. I am still trying to determine Angeline Gilliam’s mother’s line. Her parents, I think, were Thomas and Mary Bledsoe. If you have any information, I would appreciate it so much. My grandfather was William Claude Weatherly.
Does anyone know anything about my grgrgrandfather Frellin H. and LaRue Bloomer, who lived in Scott County,VA? They had a daughter Laura V. Bloomer that died at the age of 3. Supposedly Frellin had a son with a woman called Mary Gilliam, but he and LaRue raised him(also named Frelin H.)
I know where a bloomer family cemetery is just outside of Norton VA. My greataunt Stella bloomer lived in a house just below it. Not sure if itis the one your looking for. She had a brother named June and a sister (my grandmother who died when I was a baby 1953??) I believe there was a couple of more brothers. June owned a lake and roller skatingthat many people in the area frequented in tge 60s.
