Bobbie writes…… As a matter of interest I have made a connection with the grandaughter of Lucinda ROLLER ROBERTS. She lives in Oklahoma…she told me this story:
George was about 6 years old when his mother Lucinda (ROLLER) ROBERTS died and by this time she had remarried Samuel MOORE. George had come home late from school one day and his step father made him leave home. He could remember walking down the road with his little bundle of clothes. That was the last time he saw his Mother. He knew that she died but did not get to go to her funeral. Said he was living with two old ladies. He had 2 older brothers Mannie and John still at home. Manney got married and went and got Dad and took John and brought them to Oklahoma.
I was able to supply Lucinda’s granddaughter with a copy of this photo copy of her grandmother…needless to say she was delighted, she is 72 years old.
Photo is the property of Bobbie Nicholson.
Does anyone know anything about this Absolam Roller? Was he ever married? My great aunt was Ida Roller McKinnon. On Ida’s social security application she wrote her father was “App Roller”. This Absolam Roller fits the time period but we have no proof this is him. Thanks for helping with this mystery
