Jesse Braynard Allen was the son of James Allen and Rebecca Lane. He moved from Scott County to Wise Co in the early 1900’s. J.B. married Esther ” Easie ” Lane daughter of James Ervin Lane and Mary Catherine “Mollie” Jones .

Archie Allen was the son of John G. Allen.  John G. was Jesse Braynards Uncle.

Jesse Braynards sister Esther Jane Allen married Thomas Head and Jim Creech married one of their girls.  ( See Sue Chappell’s picture of that family)

I would like to correct information posted on this link. Esther “Easie” Lane was not the daughter of Samuel Patton Lane. She was the daughter of James Ervin Lane and Mary Catherine Jones. Easie was a sister to my grandmother, Adeline “Addie” Lane.

    Hi Barbara,
Thanks for bringing that to my attention. I have it right in my tree.. just got it mixed up here.. ha ha.
The reason for the mix up is that Jessie Braynard’s sister Louisa ” Lou ” married William M. Lane the son of Samuel Patton. And of course ” Lou ” and ” Braynard’s” mother was Rebecca Lane the daughter of Wilkerson Lane and Melinda Rhoton. So the Lane’s is an easy family to get all jumbled up in my head.
Thanks again.. I will get this changed.

Hi, my name is Viola Lelia Lane, and I am the daughter of James Ervin Lane, born 11/02/1920. His father, my grandfather, was Lee Berry Lane, born April 1, 1890, in Scott Co., VA. My great-grandfather was James Ervin Lane and Mary Catherine Dillian was my great-grandmother. My dad’s maternal grandparents (my great-grandparents) were Pat Lane and Catherine Louise Reynolds. My great-great grandparents on my dad’s side were Willie Lane and Melinda Rhoton , and Elisha Dillion and Rachel Moonlight Jones, who was said to be a full-blooded Cherokee. The spelling of the names I am taking out of the family bible. If anyone has any information on any of these people other than what you have already listed, please email me. I discovered my half-sister, Janeann Angel Lane earlier this year, and we are trying to fill in the family tree for her. Thanks for any help.

Rachel Jones was my great, great grandmother and Alafare Barnett was my great grandmother. John Calvin Gibson is my grandfather and Toney Lee Gibson is my father. Alafare Barnett married William F. Gibson, born c. 1834 in Kentucky and I’m trying to go back further. There are so many William Gibsons that it is mind boggling!
