    Kathleen Ledford:

I know your message if over a year old. Hope you are still checking this site. I am gathering all the information I can find on the Hammonds of Scott County. I have been working on this family for a very long time. I am expecially interested in any one connected to the Absolom Hammon(d)s line.

Would love to hear from you. Hope you can connect Sallie for me. Have information I would be happy to share.

    Hello Sue Swain,

My Grannie (Sally) is from the area of Scott county known as Copper Ridge, Copper Creek was on one side and Clinch River was on the other. Her parents owned a lot of land in that area and they divided the land up amoung the kids and Grannie received the “Old Home Place”. I don’t know how many kids but I did know Daddy’s first cousins that live around us was Jerry Hammonds, Joe “Doc” Hammomds and Jack Williams wife Rosie. Also there were Lovely Hommonds married to Joe Doc. Wayne, Joe and Lovely”s son still lives there. Myrtle Christain married to Harman, Mattie Davison married to….can’t remember his first name and Blanche Sprivey married to Claude. Oh, about forgot Marie Sprivey married to Orville. Claude and Orville were brothers. Another brother James, he was married to Ettie and she was a Hammonds, she has a brother Ben. This is about as far as I can go and I may have some of this confused. Jerry’s wife Emogene still lives on Copper Ridge along with her boys Don and can’t think of his name.

Ettie still lives there and I hear her son Larry lives near her. Her son Danny lives near Manville School. I think Ettie also has Twin Brothers but I am not sure of this. Any questions let me know.

Mattie Davison and her Husband owned the store across from the Manville store.

    Kathleen.
