I agree with all your information except for James’ date of death.
Big Stone Gap Post, Dec 04, 1912, Gate City, Va Nov 28 M Cox who on Saturday shot and killed his brother in law, James Flanary, has surrendered to the authorities and will be given a peliminary hearing tomorrow. He claims self defense. A few months ago Cox was tried for the murder of William Burke but was acquitted on a plea of self defense. He is a member of a prominent Scott county family.

There is an extraordinary likeness to my family in this photo. I’m descended from George W. Flanary, born in scott county about 1850.

Hi, I’m a decendent of William Singleton Flanary, his daughter Sarah Elizabeth “Betty” who married James Basil Jones, her son Milburn Wesley Jones, his son/my father John Milburn Jones – trying to locate information/documentation on William S and Sarah to join the United Daughters of the Confederacy and because I knew nothing about my grandfather/father’s side of the family until about a month ago..
